Welcome to the 13th edition of From V to You, a weekly letter of inspiration, tips, tricks, and behind-the-scenes of how I’m building a business around my personal brand so you can too. If you’ve missed the previous letters, you can always read them here.
I need you to do yourself a favor and…
“Find out who you are and be that person. That’s what your soul was put on this Earth to be. Find that truth, live that truth, and everything else will come.”
This quote came to me at the most perfect time in my week/life and I hope it’s coming to you at the most perfect time in your week/life.
Seriously though…how many times do we have to give ourselves permission to be OURSELVES??
I’m not immune to this and neither are you. Just look at the highlight reel of this week:
- First – I had a call with a Bootcamp student who was struggling to know which marketing medium was most true to him and his personal branding efforts. He watches other personal brands and feels defeated because he doesn’t love being on social media. Guess what?? Just because everyone else is doing it, doesn’t mean you have to pour your energy and time into something you hate.
- Second – I was consulting a client and getting really animated and passionate about this breakthrough idea during a wordsmithing exercise when I started to apologize for my “overabundant” feisty excitement and she said “No! No! I like it!”
- Third – I was texting with a budding friend in the speaker world and I hesitantly told him what kind of speaker/performer I wanted to grow into and he said “Love that. I’m so here for it. I can see it for you.”
Let me say it straight
No more apologizing for believing in what you believe in.
No more apologizing for your excitement and strong opinions.
No more apologizing for wanting to be more than you are right now.
The only thing you should apologize for is not being YOU.
Now let’s go out and slay because we have work to do and it is Q4 of 2019!
Until next Sunday’s letter
Ps. If there’s someone in your life who could use this in theirs, please forward my letter so they can subscribe. You never know whose life you could change.
